Globe Thistle Wisdom (from the family of daisies)

Cleverly disguised, behind lavender-blue spikes,

in a sphere of whimsy; globe thistle beckons

the questioner, the one who can’t decide.

An aster at heart, daisy-like and starry-shaped,

she is wise beyond her years, or at least her long

summer stay. And though her prickles bite,

her love lesson stands on sturdy stalks;

it needn’t be asked, nor petals torn,

“Do you love me? Love me not? No!

Echinops or Asteraceae, her bloom rises

as the questioner ought, for if you must ask…

then my darling, you already know the response.
