Emotional, deep, layered, beautiful, and stunning. This book of adoption poems will break your heart, then stitch it back together again.

Drawing on her own experience as an adopted child, author Celaine Charles crafts poems based on both her own life and fictionalized stories of her own design. The result is a powerful and honest book because it is told from the heart.

How does it feel to give up your child for adoption, to adopt, or be adopted? Three Hearts Stitched tells the story from each view, often in a way you didn’t expect, revealing deep emotions and heart. The child who wonders if they were wanted or unwanted. A birth mother filled simultaneously with sorrow and hope. Parents who long for children to arrive.

Confusion, sadness, joy. All these feelings and more are captured in Three Hearts Stitched. Let your heart break, mourn, and get stitched back together again.

Stained Glass Secrets and Star Wishes

Ember McCoy, a young and stressed accountant, plans to spend Christmas alone at her family’s lakeside cabin. But after a mysterious man offers his kindness and time, she begins to reassess her fast-paced world. Holding a star-shaped, stained-glass cookie up to the light, she makes a wish. Is the glistening candy-blue center a hopeful sign there may be more to her existence than the long work hours draining the joy from her life?

Laiken Devere, an Ashrai water fairy, laments the passing of his grandmother and his future in the shadows of his older brothers. To honor his grandmother, he visits the human world above James Lake, asking the stars to reveal his destiny. But why would it lead him to an impossible relationship with a human, especially the sorrowful young Ember he found by the lake?

Does Ember and Laiken’s future together now rely on stained-glass secrets and star wishes?

Colors Collected

Colors Collected is a poetry debut from Pacific Northwest writer, Celaine Charles. Gathering thirty-one poems from her online poetry series, Colors, she has also penned new pieces to complete this picturesque book. Her hope is to inspire a celebration of color in her readers, encouraging them to slow down and notice the world around.

Celaine’s poems include whimsical insights about everyday life, from the softest shades to the boldest tints, to the wonderings of a world with no color at all:

“If I write these words, will they

be remembered?

Will children one day find

a poem about a tree,

and wonder

at the vibrant color

described in a verdant forest glen?”
